Athens Airport and Gulf Air celebrated the company’s 75th anniversary together

Athens International Airport hosted a special press event at the Athens airport on Thursday, June 12, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The event marked a significant milestone in the company’s history and reaffirmed the unwavering partnership between Greece and Bahrain.

The celebratory event highlighted the long-standing and ever-growing relationship between Gulf Air and Athens International Airport, as well as the broader ties between Bahrain and Greece. Gulf Air’s connection with Greece dates back more than four decades, with the first flight to Athens taking place in 1980. Since then, Athens has played a pivotal role in Gulf Air’s European network, acting as a major gateway to the continent.

During the event, executives from both Gulf Air and Athens International Airport highlighted the strategic importance of Athens for Gulf Air’s network and expressed mutual appreciation for the strong bilateral relations that have supported the company’s activity in the region.

The event concluded with an anniversary ceremony and a renewal of the desire for continued cooperation, underlining Gulf Air’s commitment to further strengthening its presence in Europe through Athens and beyond.
