The priorities for the consolidation of the Kalamata-Crete connection were the subject of discussion between important tourism stakeholders of the island and the Messinian Hoteliers Association in Pylos.
The President of the Hoteliers, Dimitris Karalis, who welcomed and thanked the Cretan delegation, emphasized the firm position for the Kalamata-Crete air connection, which, as he said, will not only strengthen tourism in Messinia, but will also add additional experiences to visitors to the two regions, due to the significant historical, archaeological, cultural, and even gastronomic wealth of Messinia and the Peloponnese in general.
The Peloponnese, through Messinia and the rest of the regions, gathers all the comparative advantages that our country has, which will help both destinations in their efforts to claim a significant share of the international travel market.
Mr. Karalis reiterated the standing position of the Messinia Hoteliers Association that Tourism as a sensitive “product” is suffering another blow with an uncertain future, at least in terms of its economic returns. Because, as he said, it is known that from climate change to geopolitical tensions and from developments in the economy to environmental issues or social upheavals, tourism is favored or harmed accordingly. For this reason, he added, there is a need for collaborations and joining forces so that the offered package of experiences and interests is as attractive as possible for foreign visitors to our country.
The relevant announcement by the Messinia Hoteliers Association states that there was a positive response from the members of the tourist delegation from Crete, which, as emphasized, is an optimistic indication that the State will respond to the need for air connection with larger aircraft and frequent routes.
The large delegation of Crete, consisting of the Deputy Governors of Heraklion, Tourism Entrepreneurs and travel agency agents, will continue its tour of the Peloponnese within the framework of Interregional cooperation, in order to explore further possibilities for enriching the overall tourist package that will be formed in the future for its promotion in foreign markets.
