With the aim of strengthening Karpathos’ air connectivity with European markets, representatives of the airline Eurowings are on the island, following an official invitation from the Municipality of Karpathos. The visit is part of an exploratory mission to evaluate the possible inclusion of Karpathos in the company’s route network from the next tourist season.
The Eurowings mission is participating in meetings and contacts that were initially initiated during the international tourism fairs in London (WTM) and Berlin (ITB), with the central goal of strengthening Karpathos’ presence on the European tourism map.
During the first meeting, the airline’s representatives had contacts with the Deputy Mayor for Tourism Anastasios Milios, the President of the Karpathos Hoteliers’ Association Ilias Alexiou, and the tour operator Ilias Makris, inaugurating a substantial round of consultations.
The talks focused on the possibility of launching new flights to Karpathos in 2026, from key European hubs, as well as on proposals for strategic partnerships with institutional bodies, including the German National Tourist Board.
The stay of the Eurowings representatives on the island includes visits to key tourist and aviation infrastructures, as well as to points of particular natural beauty, with the aim of obtaining a complete picture of the destination.
This visit is part of a broader plan by the Municipality to attract new airline partnerships, which will boost tourism and contribute to extending the tourist season, strengthening the local economy.
