HCAA | Inspection for upgrade projects at Milos Airport – Defibrillator Donation by an Employee

A visit-inspection was carried out by the Administration of the Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) at the Milos State Airport, within the framework of the regular inspection program it implements at the regional airports that remain under its management. The visit aimed to record on-site the existing conditions, monitor the ongoing upgrade works as well as evaluate the interventions that have already been completed.

The HCAA Governor, Mr. Giorgos Saunatsos, participated in the inspection, accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Airports, Mr. Alexandros Karydis, and the Director of Telecommunications Management, Mr. Antonis Stavrianoudakis. The CAA delegation had a meeting with the officials of the Service serving at Milos Airport, as well as with the Mayor of the island, Mr. Emmanuel Mikeli.

During the meeting, the CAA officials thanked the Mayor for his continuous support and cooperation aimed at the smooth operation of the airport. At the same time, ways to further strengthen the cooperation between the Local Government and the Administration of the Service were examined.

The visit included an inspection of the upgrade projects of the existing airport, with the aim of improving the daily experience for the passenger public. Aesthetic and functional upgrade works have already been completed, such as the installation of a new floor with modern tiles, the installation of a new microphone installation system – sponsored by the airlines serving the island – as well as the installation of a defibrillator.

The defibrillator is a kind gift from Mr. Vasilis Panorios, an airline employee at the airport, in memory of his father, Emmanuel Panorios, and was handed over to the Municipality for installation at the airport.
As part of the ongoing effort to upgrade the services provided, additional measures were examined that are expected to be implemented in the near future. Among them, the strengthening of cleaning services, the provision of new seats in the waiting area and the renovation of the sanitary areas, interventions that are deemed necessary to enhance the functionality and comfort of passengers.

The Administration of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, through regular on-site visits, confirms its commitment to the operational adequacy and upgrade of the regional airports it manages, strengthening the connection of the islands and contributing to local and national tourism development. The case of Milos airport is a typical example of targeted, small-scale, but substantial interventions that directly improve the daily lives of passengers and staff.
