Passenger traffic at the 24 airports managed by the Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) recorded an increase of 6.5% in the period January – July 2025, compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
According to HCAA statistics, the total number of passengers (arrivals and departures, domestic and international) reached 6,633,785, compared to 6,230,363 last year.
Overall picture at the country’s 39 airports
An upward trend is also recorded at all 39 airports in the country where commercial flights are carried out (24 HCAA, 14 Fraport Greece, Athens International Airport).
For the seven months of January – July 2025, passenger traffic amounted to 44,729,111 passengers, an increase of 4.7% compared to 42,713,766 in 2024.
July: Heraklion steadily increasing
The state airport “Nikos Kazantzakis” in Heraklion served a total of 1,693,791 passengers in July 2025, recording an increase of 4.7% compared to the corresponding month of 2024.
In parallel, the most significant percentage increases in passenger traffic at the airports managed by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority in July 2025, compared to 2024, were recorded at the airports:
Syros: +125.5% (3,781 passengers in 2025, compared to 1,677 in 2024)
Nea Anchialos: +12.4% (7,379 passengers, compared to 6,566)
Astypalea: +10.9% (5,455 passengers, compared to 4,919)

Aircraft movements: +3.6%
Regarding the number of aircraft movements (arrivals and departures of domestic and international aircraft) for the seven months of January – July 2025, at all 39 airports in the country, whose air traffic control is mainly exercised by the Hellenic Aviation Authority, an increase of 3.6% was recorded compared to 2024. Specifically, in total, during the period January-July 2025, 342,828 flights were carried out, compared to 330,932 flights in 2024.
