Planning for the development of the airports of Kavala and Alexandroupolis

The Region of Eastern Macedonia – Thrace assigned the company SYNECTIC, BUSINESS CONSULTING SERVICES to design and implement a strategic plan for the development of the airports of Kavala and Alexandroupolis.

In particular, the design and implementation of an integrated strategic plan for the development of airlines and airport marketing for the 2 airports of Kavala and Alexandroupolis is envisaged.

The aim is to highlight the attractiveness of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, to create a competitive advantage over other tourist destinations in the Mediterranean and to increase passenger traffic at the two airports and, more generally, tourism activity.

Among other things, a market analysis will be carried out for the period from 2014 to 2024, a comprehensive database will be designed and the interest of airline tour operators will be investigated. In addition, the preparation of a strategic route development plan will proceed.

For its part, the Ministry of Tourism proceeded with the assignment of services to the company CHOOSE S.A. with the subject of “Expertise for the understanding and interpretation of the views of Greek Society on the Greek Tourism Product-Society and Tourism”.

In particular, based on the results that will emerge from the study and research, proposals will be formulated for the specialization of tourism projects and actions that can be submitted to the Sectoral and Regional Programs of the National Strategic Reference Framework 2021-2027. These proposals will seek to promote a model of sustainable tourism development that will take into account the needs and views of local communities, while at the same time being in line with the priorities and objectives of the NSRF 2021-2027.

In this context, qualitative and quantitative data will be recorded and evaluated regarding the view of the Greek public on the provided Greek tourism product, and proposals will then be formulated regarding the targeting of projects and actions funded by the NSRF and concerning Greek tourism.
