Ryanair: Larger hand luggage without additional charge at all European airports

Ryanair announced today, Thursday 4 September, that it has completed the installation of new sizes for its hand luggage at all 235 airports where it operates.

From today, all passengers can carry a larger personal bag for free (measuring 40 x 30 x 20 cm), which is 33% larger than the European standard free hand luggage (40 x 30 x 15 cm). This bag must fit under the passenger’s seat.

Passengers who wish to carry a second hand bag can do so by purchasing the Priority Boarding service, while there is always the option to purchase checked baggage during the booking process.

Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer, Dara Brady, said:

“From today, Ryanair’s new, larger free cabin bag is 33% larger than the European standard. The measuring tools have already been replaced at all airports to accommodate the new dimensions. We hope our customers enjoy this improvement, but please be reminded that those who do not adhere to the new, generous limits will be required to pay the corresponding checked baggage fee at the boarding gate.”
