Argentina: Strengthening air connectivity

As part of promoting tourism and increasing Argentina’s air connections with other countries, the country’s General Secretariat of Tourism announced that it will further strengthen Argentina’s air connectivity with new destinations, while at the same time increasing the frequency of existing flights.

Specifically, the airline Copa Airlines, which already operates regular flights from Panama to Buenos Aires and other major cities in Argentina, launched flights from Panama to the cities of Salta and Tucuman, in northwestern Argentina. In addition, the airline China Eastern announced that starting next December, there will be a connection between Shanghai and Buenos Aires, via New Zealand, with two flights per week. In addition, Avianca, in addition to Buenos Aires, has already launched three weekly flights from Bogota to Cordoba, which will increase to seven next December.

It should be noted that in its latest report, the World Bank revised its forecasts for economic growth in Argentina and states that GDP is expected to grow by 5.5% this year. This figure will be the highest among countries in the wider Latin American region. It is noteworthy that in the same report, the growth prospects for many countries were downgraded due to increasing trade barriers and a decrease in exports.

In particular, for the Argentine economy, the World Bank predicts a strong recovery after two consecutive years of recession, which will be fueled mainly by the agricultural sector, energy and the mining sector. The reforms implemented by the Argentine government to achieve macroeconomic stability and rationalize public spending are highly appreciated. In addition, the lifting of most exchange controls agreed in the framework of the new loan program with the IMF is expected to contribute significantly to restoring the confidence of both investors and consumers. The World Bank also reports that growth is expected to continue in 2026, at a rate of 4.5%.

The information comes from the Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs in Buenos Aires.
