A significant promotion opportunity for Chios was created with the recent visit of Aegean Airlines’ Marketing & Online Communication department to the island. Over the course of three days, executives of the airline were hosted by the Municipality of Chios, the North Aegean Region, the Chios Private Tourism Organization, the Municipality’s Tourism Office and local professionals. The program included getting to know the mastic villages, medieval alleys, hiking trails, wine tastings, cooking workshops, visits to beaches and historical monuments.

The goal of the mission was to collect material for promotional activities and posts on Aegean’s social media, through which Chios will be highlighted to thousands of travelers in Greece and abroad.
As local organizations point out, this collaboration constitutes a “huge opportunity for extroversion” that strengthens the strategy of promoting the island as an authentic and multidimensional destination.
Remaining at the forefront of the communication actions that Chios has implemented, it is recalled that the “3+1 nights” initiative is currently running successfully, which offered an additional night for free to visitors in the collaborating accommodations. An action that earned positive comments, stimulated the local economy and highlighted the hospitable character of the island.
