Karpathos will be directly connected to Germany from May 2026, via the new Eurowings D?sseldorf – Karpathos route, which will operate every Tuesday until October. Reservations are expected to open after mid-November, marking a new era for the island’s air accessibility.
The new connection is the result of targeted cooperation between the municipality of Karpathos and Eurowings, in less than a year from first contact to finalization. At this point, it should be emphasized that this is a success that is part of the municipality’s broader plan to expand the tourist season and attract European markets with high travel spending.
The flight will operate until approximately October 20, 2026, adding crucial weeks to the season and reinforcing Karpathos’ image as a destination of experience and authenticity.
Parallel promotional activities
As part of the reinforcement of the new route, gastronome Dimitra Petsa visited the island to get to know its gastronomic identity, in view of the special event that the GNTO Germany office will hold on December 4, 2025 in Frankfurt, in the presence of press representatives and tourism professionals.
At the same time, at the end of September, the representative of the travel agency surfbude.de, Sven Thomas, made contacts with windsurfing stations on the island, exploring possibilities for cooperation to further promote water sports in the German market.
As emphasized by the mayor of Karpathos, Michael Fellouzis, this agreement constitutes “another step towards a modern, extroverted and sustainable tourism development, based on cooperation, methodicality and consistency.”
