New air connections to Greece to "rain" in the summer of 2026 – Which destinations are taking off?

Greece is once again at the center of interest for European airlines, with the addition of Greek destinations – both established and new – to the summer flight schedules of 2026 gaining strong momentum.

The launch of new routes, the increase in frequencies on existing air services and the extension of winter routes into the summer are elevating Greece’s connectivity for the new season and at the same time indicate rising travel demand for the country.

Jet2 announced ten new routes from its new base at Gatwick, Aegean is strongly reinforcing Thessaloniki with five new routes and increased frequencies, while airlines such as Ryanair, Eurowings, Finnair, Volotea, Wizz Air and Austrian are expanding their networks to Greek destinations, opening new opportunities for Greek tourism in 2026.

Jet2: 10 new connections with Greece

Jet2 will offer twenty-nine new connections in the summer of 2026 from its new base at London Gatwick Airport, ten of which concern Greek destinations.

Specifically, from 31 March 2026 the new route to Heraklion will be available, operating twice a week, and on 3 April the route to Rhodes will begin, with one weekly flight increasing to two weekly flights from 5 May 2026.

On 6 April the route to Corfu will start, with one weekly flight increasing to two for the period from 3 July to 9 October, while in the same month, on 30 April, the launch of the route to Thessaloniki is scheduled, with two weekly flights.

On 1 May the route to Kefalonia begins, with two weekly flights, operating until 9 October 2026.

Following on 2 May is the route to Preveza, running until 10 October, with one weekly flight and two from 1 July. On 4 May flights to Kos begin, with one weekly flight and two from 2 July, and on 6 May the route to Zakynthos begins, with one weekly flight.

In July the routes to Kalamata (from 1 July) and Skiathos (from 7 July) will also start, with one weekly flight each.

These flights will be operated with an A321neo aircraft.

Aegean: 4+1 new summer connections from Thessaloniki

At the same time, Aegean Airlines is expanding its summer connections from Thessaloniki to Greece and abroad for summer 2026, offering four new routes and extending another into the summer.

The Greek carrier, through Olympic Air, will offer a new Thessaloniki–Dubrovnik route, beginning on 1 June and ending on 28 September 2026, with two weekly flights operated by an ATR72.

In parallel, a connection with Warsaw is added, starting on 31 March with two weekly flights operated by an A320, while the route to Prague will be extended into the summer season from 31 March 2026 with two weekly flights and an A320.

New additions also include connections from Thessaloniki to Milos and Zakynthos, with two weekly flights each via Olympic Air. Flights to Milos will operate from 16 June to 19 September 2026 with an ATR42, while flights to Zakynthos will operate from 16 June to 18 September with an ATR72.

Thessaloniki: Increased frequencies to 11 destinations

Weekly flight frequencies from Thessaloniki to several domestic and international destinations are also increasing. Domestically, flights to Chania (from 1 April) increase from three to four weekly, to Heraklion (from 29 March) from seven to nine, and to Mytilene (from 8 June to 28 September) from seven to nine weekly, with further increases to ten per week from 21 June, to twelve per week from 7 July, and back to nine from 21 September.

Additionally, more flights are scheduled for Rhodes (11 June to 27 September), from seven to nine weekly, and for Syros (12 June to 20 September), from three to five weekly flights. More frequent flights are also planned for Mykonos (8 June to 28 September) and Santorini (11 June to 20 September), with increases from seven to nine and from seven to twelve weekly respectively.

In the international network, connections from Thessaloniki are increasing to D?sseldorf (from 30 March, from seven to ten weekly), Rome (from 5 April, from three to four weekly), Stuttgart (from 29 March, from seven to nine weekly) and Tel Aviv (from 29 March, from two to three weekly flights).

New Athens–Baghdad connection

From December 2025, Aegean also plans to add a new connection with Iraq. The Athens–Baghdad route is expected to operate twice a week from 16 December 2025 to 13 January 2026 and then resume from 10 March. Flights will be operated with an Airbus A320.

New routes to Limnos, Mytilene, Karpathos, Thessaloniki and Kos

Ryanair has added the Milan (Bergamo)–Limnos route to its summer flight program, beginning on 31 March 2026 with three weekly flights operated by a 738 aircraft.

Eurowings will also offer a new D?sseldorf–Karpathos connection, starting on 19 May, with one weekly flight operated by an A320.

Finnair has added new connections to Limnos and Thessaloniki from Helsinki to its system. Flights to Limnos will operate from 25 May to 12 October, once a week with an A319, and flights to Thessaloniki from 4 May with three weekly flights and an A321.

For summer 2026 the Finnish carrier has also announced another new route to Greece, the Helsinki–Kos connection, which is being upgraded from a scheduled charter to a regular service, with two weekly flights from 2 May operated by A319/321 aircraft.

Austrian is adding a new connection to Mytilene from Vienna. Flights will operate from 15 June to 28 September, once a week with an A320.

New summer connections from France and Poland

At the same time, Volotea is increasing the frequency of its Lille–Heraklion route from one to two per week. The connection will operate from 5 May to 28 September 2026, while Wizz Air has already added the new summer Gdansk–Athens route to its system, starting on 1 May with three weekly flights operated by an A321neo.
