HCAA | Message for the International Civil Aviation Day – 7 December

“The Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) marks today, 7 December, the International Civil Aviation Day, as established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), highlighting the fundamental role that air transport plays in connecting people, economies and cultures.

We express our pride and appreciation to all personnel of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority – from our air traffic controllers, electronic and technical staff, to airport personnel and those in administrative, financial and support services. Their dedication ensures that Greece remains a reliable, modern and safe aviation hub in the region of Southeastern Europe and the Mediterranean.

Fully aligned with ICAO’s strategic visions, we continuously invest in the safety, digitalization, resilience and sustainability of air transport. The year 2025 marks a new era for the HCAA, with initiatives that promote its upgrade through transformation and reorganization, modernization of infrastructure and air traffic management systems, improvement of airport operations, and ongoing strengthening and training of human resources.

Our goal remains the shaping of an aviation sector that is safe, environmentally sustainable, fully interconnected and accessible to all citizens. At a time when international developments render the aviation sector particularly critical, our Authority and our country continue to demonstrate unwavering commitment to the principles of cooperation, expertise and continuous development.

Today, we honor not only the historical trajectory and achievements of civil aviation, but also its future — a future that we build collectively, with vision, responsibility and mutual trust.”
