Spain’s Goldcar drives into Greek market

Goldcar, one of Spain’s major car rental firms, is entering the Greek market adding two more Greek destinations to its list of offices, with plans to invest around 19 million euros in the local car hire market in 2016.

According to the company, the strategic decision demonstrates its commitment and confidence in the growth potential of the country’s tourism industry.

Goldcar has started up business on the Dodecanese island of Rhodes with a fleet of 880 vehicles, and in Athens, near the Eleftherios Venizelos main airport. Moreover, it has announced plans to expand in the Greek market with offices in Chania and Heraklion on Crete.

55 offices in eight countries

The Goldcar group is based in Alicante and has over 30 years’ experience and 55 offices in eight countries, including Greece, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Malta, Andorra, France and Italy. Its Greece plans belong to a 31-million-euro strategy that features expanding into new European markets, in an effort to become the biggest care hire firm in the Mediterranean.

As Goldcar CEO Juan Carlos Azcona stated: “It’s a great pleasure for us to extend the rental services we offer to a market that is highly appreciated by European visitors. Holidaying in the Mediterranean is becoming all the more popular year by year and these new hire points will give European tourists the opportunity to find the most advantageous car rental offer.”
