The Technical Schools of the Heraklion Chamber are implementing the European MEDFEST programme, which aims to boost gastronomic tourism in the Mediterranean basin and to integrate the gastronomic heritage in the planning of sustainable tourism development (https://medfest.interreg-med.eu /), according to ANA.
The MEDFEST program is a result of cooperation by eight European countries and will contribute to:
- Diversification of the tourist product
- The reduction of seasonality in tourism
- Development of tourism in the coastal hinterland
- Preserving gastronomic heritage for future generations
