Xanthi Tastes: A Gastronomy Festival with a Cultural Flavor

With the colorful mosaic of the Municipal Market as a backdrop, Xanthi is preparing to welcome a festival that is expected to awaken all the senses. “Xanthi Tastes”, scheduled to take place on May 30, aspires to become an institution, highlighting the gastronomic wealth of the region and the cultural identity that accompanies it.

The event is not just a food festival. It is an experience that marries tradition with creativity, bringing to the fore the flavors of Xanthi through the eyes and hands of a well-known chef, who will cook on site together with students from the Xanthi Cooking School. The dishes that will be presented will be based exclusively on local products, reinforcing the idea that local production can become the protagonist of the gastronomic narrative.

Beyond the culinary demonstration, the festival has clear goals: to highlight the region’s gastronomic heritage, to promote local producers, and to strengthen the local economy through tourism. At the heart of the initiative is the creation of the “Xanthi Dish”, a signature dish that will act as an ambassador of local cuisine both in Greece and abroad.

Xanthi, after all, is not only about its flavors. It is the old city with its architectural magic, the narrow streets with Ottoman courtyards and mansions, the picturesque cafes, and the scents of spices that linger in the atmosphere. It is the Carnival, the Old Town, the paths of Rhodope, and its people. With “Xanthi Tastes”, the city attempts to add yet another reason to visit — and this time, it will be tasty.

It is noted that the action is organized by the Xanthi Chamber in collaboration with the Municipality of Xanthi, the Federation of Professionals, the Restaurant Association, and the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, which participates as a co-organizer within the framework of its strategy for targeted tourism promotion.
