After its success last year, the gastronomic and wine festival “Kefalonian Tratarisma” returns for a second year, meeting the public on June 21, 22, and 23. The festival is part of the tourism promotion plan of the Municipality of Argostoli and aspires to highlight, in an even more dynamic way, the wealth of the local gastronomy and wine tradition of the island.
The name of the festival, Tratarisma, is derived from the Greek verb tratarou — meaning “to treat”, “to offer food and drink with joy”. And this is precisely the spirit of this three-day institution: to welcome visitors and locals with treats that carry the flavors, stories, and memories of Kefalonia.
Live cooking with renowned chefs and participation of local producers
The main event of the festival will be the live cooking show, where recognized Greek and Kefalonian chefs will create live dishes inspired by the traditional recipes of the island, using authentic local products. At the same time, producers from every corner of Kefalonia will present their products to the public — from famous Kefalonian cheeses and olive oils, to honey, aromatic herbs, and of course, the multi-awarded local wines.
From Thalassomylos… to the neighborhoods of Argostoli
Last year’s event, which culminated in the enchanting venue of Thalassomylos, attracted a multitude of visitors, both locals and tourists who had already begun to fill the island in anticipation of summer. This year’s program is expected to be equally rich and multifaceted, with events that will unfold in various parts of Argostoli, making gastronomy an integral part of the tourist experience.
Flavors that respect tradition, honor the place
The goal of Kefalonian Tratarisma remains constant: to promote the culture and history of Kefalonian gastronomy and winemaking in a qualitative and targeted way. The creations that will be presented draw inspiration from the simplicity and deliciousness of pure ingredients and homemade food, highlighting the richness and uniqueness of the island’s table.
As the organizers emphasize, the festival “introduces” visitors to the authentic Kefalonian flavors, while offering a platform for excellent local producers. Wine, after all, is an integral element of the island’s wine identity, with local varieties such as Robola starring.
A celebration of taste and hospitality
The Kefalonian Tratarisma promises to be a celebration of taste, tradition, and hospitality again this year — an authentic experience for those who wish to discover the true face of Kefalonia through its flavors and aromas.
