Pelion highlights its gastronomy with a series of events in August

With the lush green landscapes of Pelion as a backdrop and the flavors born from the soil, honey, herbs and fruits of the region as a guide, a series of cultural and gastronomic events are planned in August that highlight local production, tradition and the experiential relationship of the residents with nature. From Syki and Pouri to Makryrachis, this summer’s events offer not only flavors, but also memories, stories and inspiration.

In Syki, on August 2, the event “Traditional Sykonian Flavors & Dishes” is organized, with dishes based exclusively on local raw materials. After the presentation of the recipes, the participants compete for the best dish, while the winners will receive souvenirs and books with recipes from the region. The action seeks to promote the gastronomic identity of the place, presenting traditional cooking as an integral part of the cultural heritage of Pelion.

A few days later, on August 9 and 10, Pouri hosts the 5th Honey and Honeycomb Products Festival, with an exhibition of beekeeping products, educational activities for children, musical performances and a traditional dance festival. The event focuses on highlighting the dynamics of the beekeeping sector in the region, encouraging cottage industries, environmental awareness and good agricultural practice. Visitors will have the opportunity to taste products directly from the producers, to be informed and entertained through a rich program.

From August 13 to 17, Makrirachi, known as the “village of flowers”, hosts the Local Products Exhibition, with elegant producer stands, tastings and cultural activities. The exhibition is a bridge between the primary sector, culture and tourism, attracting visitors who want to experience authentic flavors and connect with the land and tradition of the region.

Syki takes the baton again, on August 16 and 17, with the 3rd Stone and Fig Festival, a multi-level organization with informative speeches, music and dance events based on the history of the village, participation of fig producers, quarries and associations, and a central theme of the connection of the natural wealth of the region with folk tradition. The public will have the opportunity to taste local products, watch live revivals of customs and learn about the history of the place through the eyes of the inhabitants themselves.

All events have free entry and are aimed at an audience of all ages, offering a multi-sensory experience that unites taste with memory, local economy with cultural sustainability and hospitality with authenticity. Pelion is not just a destination – it is a living organism that tells stories through its products. And this summer, it does so more deliciously than ever.
