- West Crete joins British carrier’s schedule – 10 Greek destinations in total from East Midlands Airport
Jet2.com has announced the addition of Chania to its 2026 summer flight schedule from East Midlands Airport, significantly strengthening its presence in the Greek market and giving a further boost to tourism in West Crete.
The new direct connection will operate every Tuesday from 26 May to 27 October 2026, offering for the first time to travellers from the wider East Midlands region the possibility of direct access to Crete via Chania Airport.
With this move, Jet2.com adds another Greek destination to its schedule from East Midlands, bringing the total number to ten. The remaining destinations are: Corfu, Heraklion, Kefalonia, Kos, Preveza, Rhodes, Skiathos, Thessaloniki and Zakynthos.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said:
“We know how much travellers enjoy a holiday in the sun of Chania, and we are thrilled to be giving them, and the region’s independent travel agents, the opportunity to discover this magical side of Crete for the first time.”
He stressed that the 2026 programme will be the largest ever offered by the East Midlands-based company, urging travellers to book early to secure the best accommodation.
Crete is set to benefit significantly from the addition of this flight, as access from the UK is a strategic factor in boosting tourism, particularly to less saturated areas such as Western Crete. The region boasts high-quality tourism infrastructure, authentic experiences, natural beauty and cultural identity, attracting increasingly discerning visitors.
In total, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays offer 43 destinations from East Midlands Airport for summer 2026, with Chania among the new destinations, along with Agadir, Costa de Almeria, Pula, Preveza, Thessaloniki and Split
