Record attendance at this year’s Sardine Festival in Kalloni

More than 4,000 visitors flooded the port of Skala Kalloni on the second day of this year’s Sardine Festival, which took place from 1 to 3 August 2025 under the auspices of the Greek National Tourist Organization. Visitors enjoyed local treats and ouzo from the distilleries of Lesvos, while sharing a total of 70 kilos of fresh sardines from Kalloni on Saturday and another 130 kilos on Sunday, transforming Skala Kalloni into a great summer feast of taste and music.

In the meantime, visitors toured the 38 local product stands, tried recipes through the new institution “Housewife’s Dish” and purchased souvenirs from the “Sardine Store”, the pop-up store of the event.

This year’s celebration also stood out at a national level, as it won a Bronze award at the Event Awards 2025 in the Gastronomy Events category. At the same time, it highlighted its social dimension, supporting little Dimitra, a child with cerebral palsy who needs serious medical support.

With almost thirty years of history, the Sardine Festival of Kalloni proved this year again that it remains one of the most vibrant institutions of summer Lesvos, combining taste, tradition and music in an unforgettable experience.
