From August 16 to 18, Anemotia, Lesvos, plans to host the 9th Viticulture Festival entitled “Land, Climate, Culture”, a three-day event dedicated to highlighting the local viticulture tradition and the close connection of the vine with the history, art and lifestyle of the island.
The festival, organized by the Anemotia Winegrowers Association “O Kampos”, will take place in the courtyard of the community’s Primary School, in the heart of Kalloni. It is a multifaceted cultural action that aims to strengthen the local identity and promote the region as a tourist destination, both within and outside Greece.
Tradition, taste and culture
The festival program includes a variety of events that highlight both the cultural and gastronomic heritage of the place. From traditional and modern concerts, theatrical and dance performances, to presentations of local wines, tastings, exhibitions of folklore material and creative workshops, Anemotia is transformed into a vibrant center of tradition and culture.
A special place in this year’s festival is occupied by activities focusing on the local winemaking tradition, such as presentations of local wines and treats with sweets made from grapes and grape marc. At the same time, narrative evenings, educational lectures, musicological tributes and tours of the village’s cobblestone streets and the paths of the Anemotia volcano are organized, connecting the natural environment with cultural wealth.
A festival for everyone
The organization aims at the cultural and tourist development of the region, attracting visitors from other regions of Greece and abroad. The revival of traditional customs, the promotion of local musical heritage and the substantial involvement of the community create conditions of social cohesion and solidarity.
At the same time, the festival emphasizes education and cultural awareness, through actions aimed at children and adults, cultivating knowledge about viticulture as an integral part of lesbian identity.
Culture with impact
The initiative of the Anemotia Winegrowers Association, with the support of the North Aegean Region, is part of a broader framework of cultural actions with reference to local production and tradition. Through the 9th Viticulture Festival, the vine is presented not only as a crop or product, but also as an element linked to the historical memory, knowledge and cultural identity of the region. The festival brings together the local community and visitors every year, creating opportunities for participation and contact with the place.
