The number of flights offered from Canada to Athens in August 2025 increased by 63% compared to the corresponding levels in August last year, according to data from aviation data company Cirium. Athens is followed by Edinburgh (+45%) and Marditi (+35%).
The same data shows that August 2025 will be a record month for transatlantic flights connecting Europe and Canada, with a total of 4,276 scheduled one-way flights, the highest number ever recorded in August, with 1.2 million seats available.
The data reflects a significant increase in demand, with the number of flights increasing by 5% compared to August 2024, and 14% compared to pre-pandemic levels in August 2019. Over the past decade, this growth is even more impressive, as the volume of flights between Europe and Canada has increased by more than 40% since 2015.
A factor contributing to the strengthening of demand for Europe is the increasing attractiveness of Canada for European travelers looking for long-distance destinations, as well as the increased number of Canadians who are choosing Europe for their summer vacations.
Canada’s national carrier, Air Canada, is leading the way in this trend, adding 112 additional flights from Europe for August 2025 alone, representing over 34,500 additional seats, and now operates over a third of all scheduled flights between Canada and Europe. The August schedule is actually up 8% compared to last year’s peak.
Air Canada has launched 5 new routes between Europe and Canada this summer…
Edinburgh – Montreal (Trudeau)
London (Heathrow) – Ottawa
Naples – Montreal (Trudeau)
Prague – Toronto (Pearson)
Porto – Montreal (Trudeau)
