Grape Festival in Karditsa

Summer is full of festivals that honor the products of each place. These festivals give the residents of each village the opportunity to have fun, while at the same time attracting travelers looking for authentic experiences that will bring them closer to the way of life of the Greek region. Two of these festivals are the Grape Festival in Dafnospilia and the Grape Festival in Mouzaki.

In detail:

Grape Festival in Dafnospilia, Karditsa

On August 17, in the courtyard of the Dafnospilia elementary school, the Grape Festival is scheduled to take place, which is co-organized by the Dafnospilia Cultural Association “To Velesi”, among others.

This is an annual event, where grapes are honored as a local product, through various activities, such as a traditional feast with music and dances of the region.

The purpose of the Grape Festival is to highlight the customs of the region and entertain residents and visitors.

It is worth noting that Dafnospilia is a Byzantine settlement. The famous monastery of Dafnospilia, dedicated to the “birthday of the Virgin Mary”, was burned by the Turks in the revolution of 1854 and rebuilt in 1890.

Also worth seeing is the unexplored and undeveloped cave of the settlement and its stone bridge, a building from the years of Turkish rule, which has been classified as a protected monument. The Kalentzis River has natural stone troughs, in which some daredevils bathe, since there is enough flow until the end of June. An important cultural and social event is the Wine Festival, which takes place every year in early September.

The Grape Festival in Mouzaki

In parallel, on September 7 in Mouzaki, Karditsa, the 14th Grape Festival is scheduled to take place, which is co-organized, among others, by the Cultural Association of Women of the Municipality of Mouzaki. This is a festival that is an institution for the cultural events of the place, which has been organized for 13 years and attracts the interest not only of residents, but also of visitors to the wider area. The event will include a Photo Exhibition related to the tradition of viticulture, a space where local producers will exhibit their products, local fruits and cheeses, as well as traditional folk music. Throughout the event, there will be an offer of free grapes donated by local producers and traditional dishes from the members of the association. The purpose of the event is to preserve tradition and highlight the local product.

It is worth noting that Mouzaki offers exceptional natural beauty and activities for visitors, such as recreational parks, zoological parks, environmental centers, beautiful landscapes and panoramic views.
