A new first for Greece, this time in London, where it was named the tourist destination of the year at the Food and Travel Awards and in the “Short-Haul Destinations” category.
Greece was honored with the “Short-Haul Destination of the Year” award by Food and Travel Magazine as part of the annual Reader Awards, 20 October 2025. The distinction is a significant reward for our country as a tourist destination, especially for the British public, which is looking for a combination of gastronomy, culture and affordable travel in a short distance.
Food & Travel magazine has an established presence in Great Britain and internationally, as a leading medium for trips related to gastronomy, wine and travel experiences. According to the magazine, its circulation in the UK is 31,000 and its British audience is mainly professionals, aged 26–54, with a high income and a strong interest in travel and food.
The award for Greece by Food & Travel magazine is of particular importance for British tourism to our country, as the magazine is aimed at readers who are opinion leaders and make travel decisions. The British public is a strategically important market for the Greek tourism industry, and increasing the awareness of Greece as a gastronomic-travel destination for the British contributes to increasing demand and quality travel experiences.
