Major global and European distinctions were handed out to 14 Greek hotels in 6 categories in 2016 Travelers’ Choice Awards, based on leading international travel platform Tripadvisor users’ reviews:
Two Greek hotels, the Achtis in Afitos Chalkidiki and Canaves Oia in Santorini, are among the 25 best in the world. The Achtis Hotel ranked 5th, and Canaves Oia 12th.
In the respective European rankings with the best hotels for 2016, Achtis landed in the second position, Canaves in the 4th, while the Trapezaki Bay Hotel ranked lower.
The best hotel in the world, according to the classification of TripAdvisor, is the Umaid Bhawan Palace Jodhpur, India, and the best in Europe, the Bellevue Syrene in Italy’s Sorrento. Achtis Hotel emerged as the fifth best in the world.
Top 25 small hotels in the world
In the top 25 small hotels in the world category, the Spirit of the Knights Boutique Hotel in Rhodes ranked 9th and Enigma Apartments & Suites in Santorini 14th.
The Spirit of the Knights ranked 4th in the European list of best small hotels, the Enigma Apartments 7th and the Anastasis Apartments 12th.
In the top bargain hotels in the world category, Lithos by Spyros & Flora Agios Ioannis Diakofti Town ranked 5th (third in the European ranking) while the Chez Sophie Rooms & Suites Kamari Santorini ranked 11th (7th in Europe).
In the European bargain hotels category, Lefka Apartments in Chania ranked 19th.
Best luxury hotels category
Lindos Blu ranked 19th (and fifth in Europe) in the best luxury hotels category while Casa Delfino Hotel & Spa Chania ranked 14th in the respective European category, one spot above Andronis Luxury Suites in Oia.
In the hotels with the best service category, Astra Suites ranked 9th (fifth in the European ranking) the Anastasis Apartments in Imerovigli, ranked 24th (11th in Europe.
Achtis Hotel also ranked 20th among the best hotels in Europe, in terms of service.
Finally, in the best B & B category, the Aenaon Villas in Imerovigli occupied the 4th place in world as well as European ranking.
