Trivago: Competitive prices by Greek hotels in May, -4.3% in Athens

With may have already entered, the summer is officially less than a month. How much will be asked to pay for their stay those who begin their trips by now? These are the results of the hotel price List of www.trivago.gr (trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI)) for the month of may 2016, for international but also national destinations.

The average price for Greece for may is kept absolutely stable compared with the previous month, at 90 euros. Compared with last year, however, the Greek hotels in their entirety are at about 10 percent more expensive. In neighboring Italy, the prices are considerably higher than the Greek, since the average price of Italian hotels is at 127 euros. This value, however, is against 9.3 percent lower than last year.

The largest and most important change occurs in the prices of the hotels of Turkey, which annually fell by 26 percent, driving the average hotel price in EUR 77 for may 2016, from 104 euros which was the corresponding last year. The path of price based on city level by examining in detail the changes in prices of hotels, the most important occurs in Istanbul, where hotels have reduced their prices both annually and monthly. More specifically, the hotels of Istanbul had 111 euro average price in may 2015, while during this year’s May the corresponding value has fallen to 75 Euro, 32.4 percent, i.e., lower.

Prices in Athens seem to fluctuate more down than last year, with the average price being formed at 110 euros, from 115 last year respectively. Similar course have and the prices of Rome, whose hotels are at 10.2 percent cheaper than last year.
