Popular Greek hotels in Germany during second half of April

Individual German holidaymakers mostly prefer cheaper hotels than those favoured by families and couples, but not in Greece, the latest fortnightly fvw Hotelometer rankings show.

There is one clear exception to this general trend. Enquiries by singles for the TUI Magic Life Candia Maris Imperial in Amoudara soared in the fortnight from April 18 – May 1, pushing it from fourth to top of the Greece ranking in this category. The 4-star all-inclusive hotel, with a very high average price per person of €1,529, had more than twice as many enquiries as the second-placed King Minos Palace in Chersonissos, which has an average price of €719. Third was the Atrium Palace Thalasso Spa Resort in Kalathos (€967).

The overall Greece ranking was again headed by the Ikaros Beach ahead of the Pilot Beach Resort with the Atrium Palace in third place. Most enquiries by families went to the Pilot Beach Resort, the Lindos Princess and the Sentido Mikri Poli Atlantica. The couples’ ranking was led by the Ikaros Beach, the Atrium Palace and the Pilot Beach Resort.

Familiar names in Spanish ranking

In Spain, the hotels attracting most attention from individual holidaymakers were also relatively expensive: the SBH Jandia Resort (€911) and the IFA Buenaventura (€1,096), followed by the much cheaper Smartline Santa Maria in Cala Millor (€434).

Familiar names headed the overall Spanish ranking: the Lopesan Costa Meloneras, the Blau Punta Reina and the Gran Camp de Mar. In the family ranking, the top three reshuffled their order, with the Blau Punta Reina and the Garbi Cala Millor ahead of the Iberostar Club Cala Barca. Couples showed most interest in the Lopesan Costa Meloneras, the Gran Camp de Mar and the SBH Costa Calma.

More traditionally, the singles ranking for Turkish hotels was led by properties with relatively low average prices, although higher than their average prices in the previous fortnight: the Side Prenses (€523), the Sailor’s Beach Club (€411) in Kemer and the Aska Just In Beach (€650) in Alanya.

In the overall Turkey ranking, Royal Dragon retained first place, ahead of a new entry in the top ten, the Side Breeze, and the Miracle Resort in Lara. Families were most interested in the Royal Dragon, the Club Asteria Belek and the Side Breeze, while the couples ranking was topped by the Royal Dragon, the Side Prenses and the Miracle Resort.

The fvw Hotelometer is a fortnightly ranking of the most popular tourist hotels in Turkey, Spain and Greece, showing customer enquiries but not actual bookings. It is based on all enquiries in the Traveltainment reservations system used by German travel agents and online booking engines. The data, supplied by IT company TrevoTrend, is split into different categories (overall, families, couples, singles and star ratings).
