Following a fire that broke out last January 19, just a few weeks before it was due to reopen following full renovation, the Parisian palace Ritz Hotel is welcoming its guests once again.
Renovation was carried out by Bouygues Construction Sous under the guidance of the agency Atelier COS Architecture & Patrimoine, with a goal to preserve the prestigious, 118-year-old hotel’s authenticity while integrating state of the art technology.
This Parisian icon now offers 71 rooms and 71 suites, as well as nine ballrooms able to accommodate up to 500 guests. A summer restaurant and a Chanel treatment area have been created, the swimming pool restored, suites enlarged, including those attribute to Coco Chanel and Marcel Proust. In terms of gastronomy, the property has called upon the starred chef Nicolas Sale and pastry chef Fran?ois Perret.
Owned by the British businessman of Egyptian origin, Mohamed Al-Fayed, the institution located at place Vend?me had been closed since March 2012. The hotel was about to reopen its doors when a fire broke out on the last floor of the property. Originally estimated at 140 million euros, the real cost of the renovation is more than three times that sum.
