The 5-star brand new “Electra Metropolis” located in the heart of Athens aims to help the Greek capital restore its prestige.
“We have a vision. We want to help Athens regain its lost prestige,” Yiannis Retsos, managing director of Electra Hotels and Resorts said in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.
“Electra Metropolis” is a modern hotel with a classical twist that has been constructed in the historic building that once housed the Education ministry.
It has a capacity of 216 modernly equipped rooms and suites and features a unique sky-light Atrium at the center of the hotel as well as an exquisite Roof Garden.
“Our philosophy is to combine the traditional Greek hospitality with modern elements,” Retsos stressed.
It is the third hotel of Electra Hotels and Resorts Group in Athens, which operates in the Greek market for 50 years. The other two, Electra Palace Athens and Electra Athens, have a capacity of 155 and 109 respectively and the majority of their customer base is represented by people at the age of 45+.
“Our aim is not to wipe out the other hotels of the group. Based on its contemporary concept, the new hotel targets the ages 30-45, the so-called millennials,” the managing director stated adding that the group represents a significant share of the market so it can affect market conditions.
The total cost of the investment that aspires to change the image of the city reached 17 million euros and will create 150 new job positions.
