More than 2,500 business meetings took place at the Business Travel Professionals Forum 2017 between 40 hotels and more than 300 executives of commercial companies and travel agencies from Greece, Central Europe and the Middle East.
The 5th Business Travel Professionals Forum was held in Athens, on 1 November 2017 at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. This year’s BTPF was a full day event under the title “The Full Day Project”, where apart from the pre-scheduled B2B meetings, presentations and workshops took place along with a cocktail networking party.
SWOT’s Managing Director George Constantinides in his opening speech stressed that “the tourist season in 2017, to date, has been excellent for Greece, both at the visitor level and at the turnover level. In 2018 it promises to be even better. BTPF 2017, as the starting point for the tourist events in our country, is also the starting point for all of us for a race of contacts and the development of collaborations to and from all over the planet and Greece.”

During the event, Greek main opposition New Democracy Tourism Sector head Dodecanese MP Manos Konsolas presented a framework of proposals for the development of conference tourism and city break.
Mr. Konsolas especially focused on the development of conference tourism, as part of the overall Attica Urban Tourism Model, and set as a priority the construction of a modern, large metropolitan conference center in Attica.

The 5th Business Travel Professionals Forum was also addressed by Mr. Yannis Yiannakakis, Chief Executive Officer of Tornos News, which was also an Official Communication Sponsor of BTPF 2017.
Mr. Yiannakakis highlighed the latest trends in the international hospitality industry and underlined that events such as the Business Travel Professionals Forum significantly promote the Greek tourism product and facilitate the B2B travel professional community in Greece and abroad.

Greek main opposition New Democracy Tax Sector head Imathia MP Apostolos Vesyropoulos was also present at BTPF 2017 and tackled the problem of overtaxation in the Greek tourism market, explaining how a future government by his party is determined to lower taxes and enhance enterpreunership in this most critical sector for the national economy.
The conference was also addressed by the Vice President of the Hellenic Association of Professional Congress Organizers (HAPCO) Mr. Panagiotis Podimatas who was also an Official Sponsor of the event with PODIMATAS AUDIOVISUAL.
