UK: 9 out of 10 hotels workers victims of sexual harassment

Nine out of ten workers in hotels, bars and restaurants in Britain have been sexually harassed, according to Unite workers union’s survey “Not on the Menu.”

Initial data record that 89% of workers had at least one experience of sexual harassment in the workplace.

Workers have reported that these incidents happen every day in common view and accuse employers of failing to protect them.

Of those who had such experience, 56.3% said they were harassed by customers and 22.7% that they were harassed by their bosses.

At least half of those who have been harassed have indicated that this experience has prompted them to leave their jobs and experience insecurity and lack of self-confidence at work.
