New collective bargaining hikes for hotel employees obligatory in Greece

A new two-year collective bargaining agreement for hotel employees in Greece was signed by the relevant labor minister this week, envisioning pay rises of 1.5 percent for both 2018 and 2019.

Following last month’s decision overturning a previous labor market liberalization, signed by Minister Efi Achtsioglou, the new collective bargaining agreement is “obligatory in general”.

As such, depending on an employee’s job description, the lowest pay scale starts  at 780.40 euros (gross) for laundry workers, and reaches 851.06 euros for receptionists, waiters and bell hops.
