Cyprus travel and tourism sector suffers blow after Thomas Cook collapse

Cyprus will be suffering a huge blow following the collapse of British Global Travel Group, Thomas Cook, according to CNA.

Tourism Deputy Minister Savvas Perdios, who presided over a broad meeting Monday morning, told the press that 250,000 tourists were visiting Cyprus on Thomas Cook packages annually with the income for the industry recorded to be 188 million euro. For the months of July, August and September, the losses for the hoteliers are expected to reach 50 mln euro.
