Concerns about the effects of the coronavirus on both the European and global economies were also expressed by French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire and his Greek counterpart Christos Staikouras, after their meeting earlier in Athens on Tuesday.
According to the same official, the impact on Greece has not been quantified yet, but issues affecting the shipping sector have been reported, while the leadership of the finance ministry is also expected to meet with hotel sector representatives.
Le Maire, who visited Athens after the G20 meeting in Riyadh, said it is estimated that growth in France will be affected, mainly via the impact on tourism (about 2.5 million Chinese tourists visit France annually) and on supply chains of raw materials, especially for the pharmaceutical industries.
The French minister also appeared supportive of Greek demands for the creation of additional fiscal space.
