On the afternoon of Tuesday 1 December, the Hotel Grande Bretagne in Athens held an established and beloved tradition for adults and children by lighting its glorious Christmas tree, but this time without the presence of an audience according to safety measures against Covid-19.
“The stunning Christmas tree stands glowing again within the overwhelming Christmas spirit of Hotel Grande Bretagne,” the hotel’s management noted in an announcement.
The impressive Christmas decoration of the place, the gleaming garlands, the ornate ornaments, and the more than 20 thousand lamps surrounding the towering fir tree create a glamorous festive setting.
Even though this time it was impossible to gather all its dear guests around the tree to listen to the Christmas carols performance by the children’s choir, the lighting ceremony retained its charitable purpose whatsoever. Being part of a socially responsible company, Hotel Grande Bretagne continues its special fundraising campaign supporting the area of Serres, which has been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
From December 1st and for seven months, €1.50 will be added to each receipt issued at the hotel’s restaurants with the customers’ consent and will be donated to support the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Serres in order to contribute to their needs for medical equipment.
Mr. Hom Parviz, General Manager, and Mrs. Christine Papathanassiou, Director of Public Relations of Hotel Grande Bretagne would like to extend a warm welcome to all in front of the Christmas tree.
