Rhodes | What the Hoteliers' Association and the Hotel Employees' Union discussed

In a climate of good cooperation and mutual understanding, the meeting between the Rhodes Hoteliers’ Association and the Rhodes Hotel Employees’ Union took place on Friday, March 14, at the Union’s offices, as part of the ongoing dialogue on issues of concern to the hotel industry and its employees.

Issues were raised by both sides during the discussion, with the main topic being the implementation of the digital work card as well as the new challenges it brings to the daily operation of businesses and employees. The Rhodes Hoteliers’ Association pointed out that the implementation of the measure was carried out without taking into account the particular operating conditions of hotel units, which creates challenges for both businesses and employees.

The Local Sectoral Collective Labor Agreement (LSCLA) was also discussed during the meeting. The Union stressed that the existing contract provides higher wages than the National Sectoral Collective Labor Agreement and its duration extends until the end of August. In addition, the need was underlined to first clarify the practical issues that will arise from the full implementation of the digital labor card and to evaluate the relevant legislative initiatives of the Ministry of Labor before starting any new negotiations on the TCSSW.

The meeting confirmed the common willingness to continue the dialogue and formulate solutions that will ensure the smooth operation of hotel businesses and the protection of employees. The Rhodes Hoteliers Association remains open to further discussions, with the aim of maintaining labor peace and strengthening the tourism product of Rhodes.
