Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchise company, has signed a franchise agreement with Mercan Greece to introduce Wyndham Corfu Acharavi, a 4-star beachfront hotel in Corfu. The partnership marks Mercan Group’s entry into the Greek hotel industry and reinforces Wyndham’s commitment to expanding in the Mediterranean.
The hotel, currently operating as Corfu Acharavi Hotel, is set to undergo renovation and upgrade as part of its repositioning in the market, in line with Wyndham’s quality and service standards. The hotel is located on the north coast of Corfu, in an idyllic seafront location, along a 7km sandy beach overlooking the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea, making it an ideal destination for leisure travelers and families.
Strategic Growth in Greece
Mercan’s investment in Corfu is a significant step in the group’s European growth strategy, reflecting its commitment to sustainable development, innovation, and high-quality hospitality. With continued expansion in Europe, the company’s entry into Greece confirms the country’s attractiveness as a leading tourist and investment destination.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, with more than 9,300 hotels in 95 countries, continues to strengthen its presence in the Mediterranean, including Greece’s most popular destinations.
A destination of unparalleled beauty
The hotel is surrounded by lush Mediterranean gardens and pine forests, offering panoramic sea views. Wyndham Corfu Acharavi will feature 150 elegantly designed rooms, with expansion plans that include additional luxury suites and premium accommodations. Upon completion of the expansion, the hotel is expected to reach 180 rooms. Guests will enjoy a range of high-end amenities, including culinary experiences inspired by local cuisine, a spa and wellness center with a heated indoor pool, modern fitness facilities, event rooms for weddings and private gatherings, tennis courts and entertainment areas, a mini market with local souvenirs and a specially designed play area for children.
Corfu is one of the most iconic and beloved Greek destinations, known for its rich cultural heritage, Venetian architecture, and crystal-clear beaches. With excellent ferry and air connections to neighboring islands such as Paxos, Lefkada, and Kefalonia, as well as mainland Greece, the island is both a standalone destination and a starting point for unforgettable trips to the Ionian Sea.

Mr. Theodoros Kioutsoukis (photo), President of Mercan Greece, said: “Corfu holds a special place in the hearts of travelers worldwide. With this agreement, we are not only investing in a destination of unique natural beauty and cultural heritage, but we are also strengthening our commitment to offering superior hospitality experiences in Greece. Our partnership with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts ensures that Wyndham Corfu Acharavi will provide the highest standards of service and international recognition while maintaining the charm and authenticity of the island.”

Mr. Vasilis Themelidis (photo), Regional Director for Southern and Eastern Europe at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, added: “Our partnership with Mercan Properties to launch Wyndham Corfu Acharavi reflects our strategy to expand into key Mediterranean destinations and strengthen our presence in markets with high potential in the leisure sector. As we continue to diversify our portfolio through strategic partnerships and transformations, Greece remains a key part of our regional growth strategy. This new opening not only strengthens our footprint in the country but also underscores our commitment to delivering quality hospitality experiences to Greek and international guests.”
