Kos: The “Garden of Life” at Ikos Aria – A Living Tribute to Hippocrates
A new chapter in the hospitality and cultural experience has opened at Ikos Aria in Kos, with the presentation of the “Garden of Life”. This is a thematic garden that functions as a living museum dedicated to Hippocrates, the father of Medicine, who was born on the island 2,500 years ago. His timeless message “Let food be thy medicine” becomes an inspiration and acquires a new dimension in the modern era.

The “Garden of Life” hosts a rich collection of therapeutic herbs – from myrtle and wormwood to wild rose and dittany – creating a living monument to the medical tradition. At the same time, through the digital experience “Educating Flora”, visitors have the opportunity to “meet” Hippocrates and the Nymph Flora, learning about the properties of each plant and its role in the history of healing.

The official opening took place on September 14, with a special gastronomic experience: a menu inspired by the principles of ancient medicine, where the herbs and plants of the garden were transformed into dishes with beneficial power.

“The ‘Garden of Life’ is a living tribute to Hippocrates, connecting the wisdom of the past with the experience of today. It was created to inspire, educate and honor the values ??of the medical tradition of the father of Medicine, which continues to influence the world,” said Eleni Andreadi, ESG Senior Director of the Sani/Ikos Group.

The project was carried out with the collaboration of leading personalities and institutions, including academic Christos Zerefos, architect Stelios Zerefos, the Diazoma Association, as well as the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with Professor Yannis Ioannidis and his research team.
