Maintaining its classic identity, the four-star City Hotel continues to offer high-level services, with the same dedicated staff who are the soul of the hotel. Its location at 11 Komninon Streetjust steps from Aristotelous Square and the waterfront promenadeenhances its urban character, making it a landmark for the city.
City is more than a hotel for us. It is an important part of the history of central Thessaloniki and our hospitality. After fifty years, it remains a favorite destination for residents and travelers alike. We want it to stay that way for many more years, said TOR Hotel Group CEO, Konstantinos (Dinos) Tornivoukas.

Renovated Spaces and Guest Experiences
The renovation of City Hotel was overseen by Bogdanos Architecture, which created spaces with clean lines, a minimal aesthetic, and high-quality natural materials. The design inspiration integrates Thessalonikis Byzantine heritage with the 1970s aesthetic, the era of the hotels founding. It connects the past with the present through materials, colors, and subtle design details. The textures and lines reflect the spirit of that period, creating an experience of comfort and familiarity from the very first moment.
In the lobby, the wooden perforated paneling, terracotta, and round mirrors reference Byzantine tradition, introducing rhythm and cohesion to the design. Bright neon elements highlight a more contemporary dimension, continuing the dialogue between historical and modern, while graphic wall patterns provide a nostalgic reference linking the hotels founding era with today.

The 125 rooms and suites were fully renovated, from Standard rooms to The One Suite. The new spaces exude comfort and tranquility, featuring custom-made furniture in a neutral earthy color palettegreen, beige, and natural wood. The guest experience is enhanced with modern technology, including keyless entry systems, smart temperature and lighting controls, USB power hubs, and premium fabrics. A notable feature is the green wall surrounding the bathroom, adding depth and visual interest to the space.
In common areas, materials such as marble from Northern Greece, wood, and a tailor-made carpet echoing bed headboards were selected to provide visual continuity and a warm atmosphere. Our goal was to create a hotel whose architecture and design act as a bridge between its history and the current guest experience, making each stay unique. Simplicity and clean geometry create a calm and organized environment, where every element has a purpose. Through the choice of specific materials, colors, and lighting, we aim to create a dialogue between the past and future of the hotel, honoring its history. At the same time, we incorporate contemporary elements that connect the space to Thessalonikis modern urban character, stated Akis Bogdanos.
Energy-efficient lighting and air conditioning systems were also integrated, along with water and electricity-saving solutions. Emphasis was placed on using local materials and Greek suppliers, as well as durable surfaces and raw materials. As a result, the hotels environmental footprint is reduced, ensuring sustainable operation.
A Tribute to Thessaloniki
The renovated City Hotel aspires to be more than a hotelit aims to be a city landmark. A central feature of the new aesthetic is the KEZ mural in the lobby, a tribute to Thessaloniki. KEZ, one of Greeces most recognized street artists, was born in Athens in 1983 and has been involved in graffiti since 1997. His style is influenced by woodcuts, reliefs, and typography, drawing inspiration from Greek mythology, nature, and the urban environment. His mural at City Hotel serves as an artistic statement connecting the hotel to the city and its culture.

City Hotel offers central access to everything and functions as a base for work or leisure. Breakfast is abundant, featuring Greek and international options, while Komninon Restaurant & Bar on the ground floor serves coffee, light meals, and cocktails throughout the day. Facilities include 24-hour reception/concierge, meeting rooms for corporate needs, free Wi-Fi, a relaxation lounge, and workspaces on the mezzanine.
