Spring 2026 Marks the Grand Return of Hilton as Conrad Athens, The Ilisian – What It Will Look Like

A new chapter in Athenian hospitality will unfold in spring 2026 with the opening of The Ilisian, a fully integrated destination designed to become a meeting point for Athenians and international travelers. The project is not simply a renovation but a revival of a historic building (the former Hilton) and the creation of a new cultural and social hub in the heart of the city.

In Hilton’s international presentation of Conrad Athens, The Ilisian, the following are highlighted:

Conrad Athens, The Ilisian combines a hotel, branded residences, a members’ club, a major wellness offering, and multiple dining and social venues that invite Athenians and international guests to meet, connect, and experience the Authentic Contemporary Athens. Its location, within walking distance of major museums, archaeological sites, and modern neighborhoods, places it at the natural crossroads between old and new Athens.

At the heart of the development is Conrad Athens, The Ilisian, the hotel that serves as the central pillar of the destination and continues the pioneering spirit first established here in 1963, when the original Hilton Athens opened and set new standards for modern Greek hospitality. Its return under the Conrad name carries cultural symbolism. In Greece, the use of a first name implies familiarity and warmth, reflecting the intention to create a space that is open, generous, and deeply connected to the city’s social fabric. The building remains one of Athens’ finest examples of mid-century architecture, renowned for Yiannis Moralis’ marble fa?ades and now illuminated by lighting designer Eleftheria Deko. AvroKO’s interior vision draws inspiration from the art and optimism of the 1950s and 1960s, creating contemporary spaces that respect the architectural heritage of the building.

The Ilisian is built on the idea of connecting people. Its role goes far beyond hospitality, creating a destination where culture, wellness, gastronomy, and community coexist. Its name derives from the Ilisos River and the broader area of Ilisia, historically associated with philosophy and dialogue. This sense of exchange is central to the destination’s vision, shaping everything from public spaces to wellness philosophy and the members’ club culture.

Conrad Athens, The Ilisian: Hotel, Rooms, and Suites

The hotel features 307 rooms and suites — among the largest in the city — many with balconies and views of the Acropolis, Lycabettus Hill, and the sea. The suite collection includes three Presidential Suites, one Royal Suite, and the Omega Penthouse, a 400 sq.m. residence with a private pool and panoramic, amphitheater-style views. These spaces reflect the architectural clarity of the property, filled with natural light and a serene contemporary aesthetic that invites guests to pause and tune in to the rhythm of the city.

Wellness, Lifestyle, and Residences

The Ilisian takes a holistic approach to wellness, combining performance, recovery, and longevity within one of the most extensive wellness facilities in Athens. Conrad Athens, The Ilisian offers over 2,000 sq.m. of indoor wellness space, including a 500 sq.m. Longevity Clinic led by Dr. Kostas Papageorgiou, known for his work at Harrod’s in London and New York. Guests, residents, and the public will have access to personalized aesthetic treatments, restorative therapies, mindfulness practices, and advanced diagnostic programs. Fitness facilities include a specialized gym, dedicated studios, an indoor heated pool, the largest outdoor hotel pool in the city, and a 700-meter rooftop running track.

Within the wider destination, Conrad and Waldorf Astoria residences introduce 55 branded and serviced homes, offering a new model of contemporary urban living in central Athens. Their design, services, and proximity to the hotel and members’ club create a lifestyle shaped by comfort, privacy, and a sense of community.

Completing the development is the House of Nynn, a private members’ club designed as the cultural and social anchor of The Ilisian. It offers dining areas, lounges, co-working spaces, pools, studios, and a cultural program curated for Athens’ creative and entrepreneurial community. It reflects the destination’s commitment to connection, aesthetics, and discovery, providing a space for conversation, ideas, and modern Athenian life.

Gastronomy

Gastronomy is central to The Ilisian’s identity. Across nine distinct venues, the destination blends iconic local names with international influences. Byzantino returns as a grande brasserie serving Greek and French classics, while the city’s first rooftop bar is reborn as Galaxy Dispensary, continuing its legacy as a meeting point above the Athenian skyline. Additional dining concepts include Japanese, Peruvian, Lebanese, and Mediterranean cuisines under the direction of Executive Chef Angelos Landos, whose Michelin-starred experience shapes the hotel’s culinary vision. Together, these restaurants and bars create a gastronomic neighborhood designed equally for Athenians and international guests.

Meetings & Events

Conrad Athens, The Ilisian features two ballrooms with natural light and a total of 19 meeting rooms, making it one of the city’s most significant event venues. Its location, extensive outdoor terraces, and flexible spaces allow it to host everything from international conferences to milestone celebrations, supported by the destination’s hospitality, gastronomy, and wellness offerings.

Room rates at Conrad Athens, The Ilisian start at €700 (approximately £613).
