South Aegean Region Governor George Hadjimarkos met with the Ambassador of Great Britain to Greece Mrs. Kate Smith in a ceremonial visit.
Particular reference was made to tourism and the fact that the British market is one of the most potent pillars of tourism in Rhodes and the South Aegean as well as Greece as a whole.
Mr. Hadjimarkos tweeted that this year’s increase in bookings from the UK is expected to reach 14%.
The meeting also focused on the developments surrounding the impending withdrawal of Britain from the European Union.
On his part, Mr. Hadjimarkos expressed his hope that Brexit will not affect the normal residence of the community of 2,500 Britons living in Rhodes.
