“Greece is the winner in tourism” is the title of the article on the newspaper Westf?lische Nachrichten that presents the best choices for this summer for German tourists, even for those who have not yet arranged a trip.
Christina Dietrich and Berbel Peters, specialists in package tours at a travel agency of M?nster, pointed out that “this summer is not a typical summer of “last-minute reservations”, and this is mainly due to instability and uncertainty in all these classic, economical destinations such as Turkey, Egypt, Morocco or Tunisia.”
“Could someone now, at a moment’s notice, get a cheap fly to Majorca?” the reporter asks the two experts. “Under no circumstances” answered B. Peters, “because prices in hotels are soaring”.
But her colleague recommends holidays in Greece and not in the Balearic Islands. Although, two years ago due to the economic crisis, tourism had been hit, the country has managed to recover. “In Greece I can find really great deals at affordable prices,” says the expert.
According to Ch. Dietrich “Greece was the big winner last year and benefits strongly from the drop of reservations in Turkey.”
As far as Turkey is concerned, B. Peters noted that “the situation of the Turkish tourist industry is so disastrous that several hotels have been forced to cease operation.”
