Greece is Germany’s fourth most popular destination in travel packeges so far according to booking data by German travel platform CHECK 24.
The data, which refer to bookings for holiday packages from 15 December 2017 to 14 January 2018 record a 12% decrease in Greece’s booking share compared to the same period last year, along with a 7% rise in prices to EUR 80 per day.
Spain remains the most popular destination for holiday packages, despite a 29% reduction in bookings compared to last year.
Turkey follows thanks to a spectacular rise, increasing its booking share by 79% in that period along with an average 8% increase in prices while Egypt occupies third place.
Tunisia shows a spectacular increase of 50% and United Arab Emirates record a 33% growth.
On the whole, European destinations, with the exception of Spain, have lost share in the German market, with Bulgaria down by 20% and Portugal by 18% .
Tunisia is cheapest and United Arab Emirates most expensive. The sharpest hike in prices is reported in Portugal.
