Cyprus Foreign Ministry issues travel advice for Maldives

Cyprus’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advice for Cypriot citizens who are currently in or are planning to travel to the Maldives, where a state of emergency has been declared, urging them to follow local authorities’ instructions carefully.   

The Foreign Ministry’s advice follows an official announcement of the Maldives’ government according to which “a state of emergency has been declared by the country’s President, in place from February 5, 2018 for a period of 15 days, until peace and prosperity of citizens and foreign nationals residing or visiting the country can be safeguarded.”

“In the same announcement, the country’s government assures that businesses which have to do with tourism will not be affected nor will transport to and from or within the country be affected,” the press release points out.
