Report: Greek Evzones return to Australia by popular demand

The Evzones, the Hellenic Presidential Guard, are returning to Australia after an invitation of the Foundation for Hellenic Studies, the highlight of the visit being a march and wreath-laying ceremony on Saturday in Adelaide, according to the following article by greekreporter.com:

The guards will visit Adelaide with specific permission from Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos and the events are supported by the government of South Australia.

On Saturday, at 9:45 a.m. local time, the Evzones are sprogrammed to march from the Intercontinental Hotel along North Terrace to the National War Memorial on the corner of North Terrace and Kintore Avenue.

A wreath-laying ceremony will be held after the arrival of the Hellenic Presidential Guard. The ceremonial Changing of the Guard will occur at 11.00 a.m., noon, 1.00 p.m. and 2.00 p.m.

Evzones will also march from St George College along Rose Street to St George Church, 60 Rose Street, Thebarton and will attend the Official Liturgy for St George’s Day at St George Church.

On Sunday, ath 11:15 a.m. there will be a ceremonial procession from St George Church to St George College to attend the St George’s Paniyiri. The St George Paniyiri starts at noon with food, live music and entertainment throughout the day. Admission is free.
