Greece is “loyal and consistent in the foreign policy of principles”, noted Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy & Openness Kostas Fragogiannis, in an interview with Vradini newspaper on Saturday, ANA reports.
By virtue of position, he added, “We have acquired significant diplomatic capital, we speak with credibility with both the Arab world and with Israel, while our goal is to avoid further escalation and expansion of the crisis in the entire region.”
Concerning Greece’s missions to South Korea, India, and Saudi Arabia, the minister emphasized that one important achievement is “the recognition that Greece has secured in large and dynamic markets of the world, and the consolidation of its role as a pillar of stability and prosperity in the southeast Mediterranean region and a gateway to the European market.”
At the same time, he added, “investment interest from these countries is intensifying.”
Commenting on Greece-China relations and the Greek Premier’s recent trip there, Fragogiannis noted that Greek imports from China in 2022 rose to a record high of 7.9 billion euros.
In the view “of a more balanced trade relationship with China, we are participating in the annual Shanghai Trade Fair, which opens its doors on November 5, in order to promote high-quality Greek agricultural and industrial products in the Chinese market.”
Furthermore, Greece’s presence there “is a unique opportunity to highlight the possibilities of expanding investment partnerships – beyond COSCO’s highlighted investment in the port of Piraeus – in sectors such as energy – including renewable and alternative sources – tourism and agriculture”, Fragogiannis pointed out.
