Greek Tourism minister meets with Swiss, Albanian ambassadors in Athens

Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni held consecutive meetings with the ambassadors of Switzerland and Albania on Friday, ANA reports.

During her meeting with Swiss Ambassador Stefan Estermann, who was escorted by Cultural Attache M. Papadopoulou, they discussed the planning of joint actions between the two countries, and jointly promoting sustainable tourism, especially in the Region of the Peloponnese. They also discussed technology exchanges in tourism training courses, and the introduction of innovative practices in the sector, particularly as they relate to the ministry-affiliated schools of tourism training.

With the Albanian Ambassador in Athens, Luela Hajdaraga, Kefalogianni discussed the prospects of bilateral and multilateral collaboration. The ambassador referred to the significant rise in tourism in Albania during the last five years and expressed Albania’s wish to draw on Greece’s experience in the sector, and to collaborate on sustainability, alternative forms of tourism, and joint tourism packages for remote markets.

As a start of developing bilateral contacts, the minister and the ambassador agreed to a work meeting between representatives from the tourism ministries of both countries that will prepare the ground for Kefalogianni’s visit to Tirana, and for private sector representatives to also meet.

Hajdaraga also extended an invitation to the Albanian minister of tourism and environment for Kefalogianni to attend the 70th Meeting of the UN World Tourism Organization (WTO) Commission for Europe, which is meeting in Tirana on April 7-9.
