With the aim of opening up tourism from the Netherlands, the Pieria Tourism Development and Promotion Organization (P.O.T.A.P.) participated in the international tourism exhibition “Vakantiebeurs” in Utrecht, the Netherlands, from January 9 to 12, 2025.
It is noted that Greece is the second most popular tourist destination for citizens of the “land of the tulip”. At this time, the Dutch are planning and choosing their vacation destination for 2025, and, therefore, participation in the “Vakantiebeurs” exhibition will contribute to the promotion of Pieria.
The Organization was represented by President Giorgos Karalis who had a meeting with businessmen in the sector, Tour Operators, travel agencies, influencers, journalists, etc.
P.O.T.A.P. presented the comparative data of Pieria, with emphasis on the promotion of alternative forms of tourism through a joint pavilion with the Region of Central Macedonia and the Tourist Organizations of Thessaloniki and Halkidiki.
The P.O.T.A.P. pavilion had a huge number of visitors. The Dutch periodical “KALA Magazine”, which was distributed during the exhibition, with a tribute to Olympus and the wider region, also had a positive response.
Part of the publication entitled “PIERIA-Olympus Riviera, Unique experiential experiences each season” is the product of a journalistic reportage carried out by the Dutch tourism editor Bastiaan Wanrooij during his recent visit to Pieria, where he was informed and given a tour by the Director of P.O.T.A.P. Vasilis Dimou.
The importance of Pieria’s participation in this year’s Utrecht tourism fair was commented on by the Deputy Governor of Pieria, Sofia Mavridou, noting: “Constantly aiming to upgrade, strengthen and promote Pieria tourism on the international horizon, we have indeed made known with great success, as was evident from both the interest and the participation of visitors, the advantages and comparative elements of our place. At the Dutch exhibition, the destination “Olympus Riviera” proved once again that Pieria has the guarantee to offer high-level tourist options and offers for every requirement throughout the year, as a uniquely remarkable destination, as required by the parameters and rules of the global tourism industry”.
The President of the Pieria Tourism Development and Promotion Organization (POTAP), George Karalis emphasizes: “The international tourism exhibition of Utrecht “Vakantiebeurs” is considered one of the top global tourism references. We shared what Pieria offers to the visitor as a destination with an annual duration and diverse choices. We demonstrated in practice the philosophy of extroversion with which we operate and operate with the ultimate goal of always increasingly promoting our place. We continue with similar actions for the even greater tourism development of our place. We continue more dynamically in 2025 with actions through all modern forms of tourism development, which promote and highlight Pieria’s unique choices in Greece and abroad.”
