The Israeli Ambassador to Greece, Mr. Noam Katz, paid a ceremonial visit to the Heraklion Chamber, during which issues of cooperation in the primary sector, tourism, and climate change were discussed.
Mr. Katz was informed by the President of the Heraklion Chamber, Mr. Vangelis Karkanakis, about the sectors of business activity in the Heraklion Regional Unit and the possibilities of cooperation that can be developed through business B2B meetings.
Mr. Karkanakis also referred to the strong historical and cultural ties between Greece and Israel, as well as to the serious consultations that are underway between the two countries for cooperation in areas of critical importance, such as energy, investments, and rural development.
“These are areas in which Crete presents significant interest and excellent development prospects. “The geographical location of Crete, its strong agricultural potential, and its ability to participate in large energy projects make it an ideal point of cooperation for Cretans and Israeli entrepreneurs,” emphasized the President of the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce.
The Israeli Ambassador emphasized the intense and growing interest of his compatriots in holidays in Greece, as they consider it a safe country, and underlined the scope for cooperation in the technological sector and on issues caused by climate change, due to the similar weather conditions in Crete and Israel.
The constructive meeting was also attended by the President of the Export Department of the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Minas Melisseidis, the President of the Heraklion Hotel Association, Mr. Nikos Chalkiadakis and the President of the Crete Tourist & Travel Agents, Mr. Michalis Vlatakis.
