- The Region of Central Macedonia, in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, the Halkidiki Tourism Organization, the Pieria Tourism Development and Promotion Organization, and the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau, held an event to present the destination in Barcelona.
The main objective of the event was the tourism promotion of Central Macedonia and the promotion of local products in the Spanish market. The initiative for this new cycle of contacts with tourism professionals and journalists from Spain is a continuation of the workshops held last year in Madrid and Valencia and is part of the Region’s strategic plan, given the particular dynamics of this particular tourism market.
Central Macedonia is emerging as a top destination, attracting more and more visitors from Spain. Tourist traffic to the Region of Central Macedonia is, in fact, expected to be further strengthened with the imminent launch of the direct Madrid-Thessaloniki connection next May.
“The effort to attract tourists from large markets, such as Spain, is our strategic goal. For this reason, we participated once again in a targeted destination presentation event, in order to promote the tourism product of the wider region, with the aim of further increasing the tourist flow from Spain and Spanish-speaking countries, which will have significant benefits for the economy of the region,” said Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism Vicky Hatzivassiliou.
