The Sun's Tribute to Karpathos | Significant Promotion of the Island in Britain

The island of Karpathos is once again on the path of international promotion, as from June 15 to 21 it will host British journalist Mr. Jamie Alan Harris and his partner Mr. Kenny Alexander Johnson, as part of creating a tribute for The Sun’s website. The hospitality will take place in a hotel in the center of Pigadia, the island’s capital.

The Sun, with 1.2 million daily copies and 33 million online visitors, is considered one of the most influential media outlets internationally. Its travel articles often influence the choices of millions of travelers and shape trends in the international tourism market.

This visit is a continuation of contacts that had taken place at the WTM 2024 exhibition in London, as part of the 2025 Tourism Promotion Program of the Municipality of Karpathos. The initiative is part of the Municipality’s strategy for targeted partnerships with major media outlets, in order to enhance the extroversion of the destination and attract new markets.

In particular, the British market is showing increasing interest in Karpathos, which combines the authentic island experience with unexplored natural landscapes. Visitors to the island are enchanted by the endless beaches with crystal clear waters, the traditional villages such as Olympos — a living museum of local culture — and the unique hospitality of the residents.

With the publication of the tribute in The Sun, Karpathos has the opportunity to establish itself even more dynamically on the European tourist map as a destination for travelers seeking authentic experiences, away from the established tourist paths.

Karpathos: an authentic destination in the Aegean

Karpathos, the second largest island in the Dodecanese, is constantly winning the hearts of travelers seeking authentic experiences, away from the crowds of large tourist centers. With landscapes of wild beauty, unspoiled beaches with turquoise waters, and picturesque villages where traditions are kept alive, the island offers a unique travel mosaic. From the peaks of Kalilampos to the caves of Kyra Panagia beach, every corner of Karpathos reveals another side of the island. It is no coincidence that Karpathos consistently emerges as a destination for “sophisticated” travelers, seeking genuine contact with the place and its culture.
